Short Description: One of the most exceptional forms of Spanish postal mail is the so-called ship’s register, more accurately described as the envelope or wrapper of a ship register. These items have long attracted the interest of scholars and collectors of Spanish maritime postal history due to their striking appearance, distinctive postal markings, high postage, and rarity. Unique to Spain and without equivalent in other eighteenth- and nineteenth-century postal systems, they are rightly regarded as the jewels of Spanish postal history.
